NorthTec and Te Matarau Education Trust (TMET) are pleased to announce that we are again working in partnership.

NorthTec and Te Matarau Education Trust (TMET) are pleased to announce that we are again working in partnership to upskill Māori and Pasifika learners to help them prepare for employment.

We have co-signed a Memorandum of Understanding which commits us to work together in 2026. Under this agreement, TMET will recruit ākonga to study the New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills (Level 2), with teaching being delivered by NorthTec – Tai Tokerau Wānanga.

TMET will also provide pastoral care to assist ākonga during their studies, and work brokerage to help them into employment once they have completed the programme.

We look forward to renewing our partnership and providing training and culturally appropriate support to boost the skills and work-readiness of our people, to help individuals, whānau and communities.

This training is funded through the Tertiary Education Commission’s Māori and Pasifika Trades Training scheme. Anyone interested in enrolling is welcome to visit Te Matarau at 6a Alexander Street, Whangārei, or call 022 154 7395.
