Not only were they honoured to be able to sponsor an award category, the NorthTec | Te Pūkenga Emerging Talent of the Year, but they also got the chance to see three of their past and present students among those awarded.

Jim Smith, Pathway Manager of Agriculture, Forestry, and Horticulture for NorthTec | Te Pūkenga, attended the event and presented the Emerging Talent of the Year Award to NorthTec trainee Journee Houston who works for Mid Northern Forestry Ltd.

“It was a great night,” Mr. Smith said. “There were many talented and deserving people there. We had a lot of fun, and it was very rewarding to see former students take out some of the awards. I was very pleased to be able to present the Emerging Talent Award to a student of NorthTec, Journee Houston.”

Two NorthTec graduates also received awards on the night including Justin Collins, who works for Mike Lambert Ltd in Whangārei who received the Pacific Motor Group Distribution Excellence Award and Edward (Blue) Lloyd, who works for Lloyd Logging, who took home the Manulife Investment Management Tree Faller Excellence Award.

NorthTec | Te Pūkenga would like to congratulate all the winners and runners-up from the night and thank the Northland Forestry Health & Safety Group for a fantastic night.
