There are times in all our lives when we encounter personal problems or life crises. It may be work or study stress, relationship concerns, financial problems, bereavement, drug or alcohol use or just about anything. When you are struggling with dealing with these, your studies will be affected.
NorthTec wants to help you to resolve these worries as quickly as possible through access to your Student Advisor or to counselling services, as part of our commitment to promoting a healthy learning environment and helping you succeed. How do I book a counsellor?
NorthTec students have free access to a counselling service provided by Vitae, a professional company with a team of independent counsellors and psychologists throughout New Zealand. The counselling services are usually done face-to-face and off campus however, if preferred, counselling may also be done over the phone, Skype or arrangements can be made for on-site counselling. Through this service you will be able to address issues such as:
Personal stress
Relationship problems
Conflict situations
Anxiety / depression
Grief / loss
Violence
Harassment
Personal trauma
Addictions
This is a FREE service for NorthTec students
NorthTec students are entitled to access up to three (3) counselling sessions at no cost to you. Please note, if you cancel an appointment without giving 24 hours’ notice, you may be charged 50% of the normal counselling fee.
The counselling service is totally confidential. Anything you discuss with your counsellor is confidential; no one else receives any details about your discussions without your permission.
