About this programme

Students will advance their understanding of Te Reo me Ngā Tikanga o Ngāpuhi-Nui-Tonu to enable them to speak confidently in formal and informal situations.

What you will learn

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

  • Analyse and apply aspects of theoretical and practical knowledge of Te Reo and tikanga to strengthen solution-focused strategies as an expression of mana ao tūroa

  • Research appropriate sources of information to accrue and demonstrate a range of oral and written communication skills appropriate to a field of work or study as an expression of mana reo

  • Explore and explain how Te Reo and tikanga informs personal and environmental connectedness as an expression of mana whenua

  • Analyse a range of Maori leadership attributes and principles that explore appropriate Te Reo and Tikanga solutions in familiar and unfamiliar contexts as an expression of mana tangata.

Entry requirements

All applicants must:

  • be at least 16 years old at the time the programme commences

  • have evidence of successful completion of a qualification in Te Reo me Ngā Tikanga at Level 4 or demonstrated and/or verified equivalence.

Te Tohu Hiwi (Kaupae 5) / New Zealand Diploma in Te Reo me Ngā Tikanga (Level 5)
