Do you have an intermediate level of understanding and ability in the use of te reo?
Continue your journey of te reo kia tika, kia rere, and kia Māori. Gain the skills and knowledge to communicate independently in familiar, and some less familiar, situations with fluency and increasing flexibility in everyday whānau, marae, social/community workplace and/or academic contexts, and in broader aspects of te ao Māori.
Graduates will be able to:

Use te reo Māori vocabulary and grammatical structures at an advanced/intermediate level as an expression of mana tangata.

Use te reo at an advanced intermediate-level to show a broad understanding of connections to the land and the environment, prominent places, people, histories and stories, and local proverbs and colloquial sayings as an expression of mana whenua.

Apply advanced intermediate-level te reo Māori and technical skills in selected places and contexts to develop a growing knowledge of, and respect for te reo, as an expression of mana reo.

Use advanced-intermediate level te reo Māori to achieve and lead tasks in specified contexts, and some unfamiliar settings as an expression of mana ao tūroa.

4911.4001 - Te Kukunetanga – Whakarāpopoto me te Whakaatu Pārongo
Aim: To provide students with advanced intermediate level Reo vocabulary and grammatical structures to summarise and present familiar information.
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Use listening skills to interpret vocabulary and grammatical structures, on familiar topics, presented in advanced intermediate spoken Reo for whānau contexts.
- Provide fluent oral presentation of vocabulary and grammatical structures, on topics which may be familiar in advanced intermediate Reo for whānau contexts.
- Use reading skills to interpret vocabulary and grammatical structures from texts written in advanced intermediate Reo, on familiar topics, for whānau contexts.
- Write fluent texts in advanced intermediate Reo which incorporate vocabulary and grammatical structures from a number of sources, on familiar topics for whānau contexts.

4911.4002 - Te Kukunetanga – Te Arotake me te Whakautu Huatau
Aim: To provide students with the ability to evaluate and respond to ideas as well as account for and sustain a point of view in advanced intermediate level Reo for familiar and some unfamiliar iwi contexts.
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Evaluate connections to the land and the environment presented in advanced intermediate spoken Reo, on familiar or sometimes unfamiliar topics, for iwi contexts.
- Participate in spoken exchanges of ideas in advanced intermediate Reo, accounting for and sustaining a point of view, for iwi contexts.
- Evaluate ideas written in advanced intermediate Reo, from pieces concerned with contemporary issues, on familiar and sometimes unfamiliar topics, for iwi contexts.
- Write texts, which synthesise ideas from a number of sources and provide rational support for or against a particular viewpoint, using advanced intermediate Reo for iwi contexts.

4911.4003 - Te Kukunetanga - Reo mō ngā Whāinga ā Ringa Reo for Practical Purposes
Aim: To provide students with advanced intermediate level Reo for practical purposes, on familiar and unfamiliar topics in workplace or academic contexts.
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Apply technical listening skills of advanced intermediate Reo for practical purposes, on familiar or sometimes unfamiliar topics, in workplace and academic contexts.
2. Speak in Reo with fluency and spontaneity to communicate information for practical purposes, on sometimes unfamiliar topics, in workplace and academic contexts.
3. Explain and use accounts and analyses written for practical purposes in advanced intermediate Reo in workplace and academic contexts.
4. Write a formal account or analysis in advanced intermediate Reo for a practical purpose in workplace and academic contexts.

Aim: To provide students with the ability to synthesis and evaluate in advanced intermediate level Reo for specified context and some unfamiliar settings.
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply listening skills to select main ideas and key supporting details of extended spoken advanced intermediate Reo discourse in specified contexts, and some unfamiliar settings.
- Actively participate in oral discussions in advanced intermediate Reo, for specified contexts, and some unfamiliar settings.
- Use reading skills to evaluate and synthesise extended texts, written in advanced intermediate Reo prose, on a range of topics for specified contexts, and some unfamiliar settings.
- Write extended coherent texts in advanced intermediate Reo for specified contexts, and some unfamiliar settings.

Entry Requirements
To gain admission to the Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Rumaki, Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 4) applicants must have successfully completed Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Rumaki, Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 3) or have equivalent knowledge and language skills.
