About this programme

This course is ideal for people wanting to learn basic Te Reo Māori skills. You will learn greetings, numbers and words in Te Reo. The programme comprises an introduction to Te Reo, ko ahau tēnei, literacy and numeracy.

What you will learn

You will learn:

  • basic conversational Te Reo

  • mihi

  • pepeha

  • karakia (opening and closing)

  • waiata

  • sentence structures using rākau.

Entry requirements

All applicants must:

  • be at least 16 years old at the time the programme commences

  • be able to read, write, and communicate in English at a basic level

  • be physically able to complete the programme-specific outcomes.
