Are you aged 16-19? The Youth Guarantee Scheme provides the chance to study for free for up to two years, and can support you with transport and pastoral care.

This motivational programme uses sports as a tool to help discover direction and goals in your life.

Learn to work collaboratively and effectively in a team to achieve an outcome. Experience a range of team and individual sports, including personal training. This programme is based at the Red Barn Gym, at NorthTec Raumanga Campus. This programme can lead to further study - New Zealand Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Multi-sector) (Level 3).

The development of literacy, numeracy and information technology is embedded and applied throughout the learning experience. 

This programme gives you the chance to study in a supportive environment where you get the time and individual attention you need to achieve a level 2 qualification.

Entry requirements

All applicants must:

  • be at least 16 years old at the time the programme commences

  • be able to read, write, and communicate in English at a basic level

  • be physically able to complete the programme-specific outcomes.
