NorthTec is proud to be accredited by CA ANZ (Whangārei campus) and CPA Australia (Whangārei) to deliver the academic programme that enables students to acquire a professional designation. 

Students can enrol into the Bachelor of Applied Management degree, with four intakes throughout the year.

Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA)
This is the premier designation and the most sought after by employers of accounting professionals. Chartered Accountants currently complete a six year qualifying programme, including three years of degree-level study, three years of practical experience and the Professional Competence Programme. 

Accounting Technician (AT)
This is the swiftest designation to attain, yet is still highly valued by employers and offers many avenues for growth. Accounting Technicians complete one year of diploma or degree-level study, two years of practical experience and the Professional Competence Programme.

What is the aim of the course?

There is a New Zealand and world wide shortage of accountants, this course - the Bachelor of Applied Management (BAM) with accounting major - aims to ensure students receive an internationally recognised qualification.

What is the content of the course?

The course is made up of 24 papers relating to accounting, auditing, taxation, economics, data analysis, communication, management, law, finance, and computing.

How is the course delivered?

The course is offered on a part time or full time basis, delivered over four terms per year.  Students have the choice of class contact, online or flexible delivery for many papers.

What career outcomes could I expect from this course?

One of the best features of the Bachelor of Applied Management is that graduates will be useful and employable. This degree is a practical ‘hands on’ programme of study that will prepare students to deal with the reality of daily work in business.
