Gavin Bell - Painting

“I'm really glad I joined NorthTec because it was just really easy to learn, and I learned heaps just from level 2 painting then on to the next ones after that.”

Gavin started NorthTec at the age of 16 while doing home-school. He initially signed up for the level 2 painting course and has since continued on to the level 3 and level 4 courses, all while getting his secondary education.
“I really loved the course. Just the whole like atmosphere and the way I was taught by my tutor. We'd all sit in a circle this time my tutor would stand in the middle. And if anyone was falling behind, he would make sure the students gathered around them to make sure they were keeping up and all that. So, it was pretty easy to learn here. I think that's what I love the most about it.”

“When I joined the course, I was really shy and it took me a while to get used to all my classmates, but I didn't expect to become really close friends with some of them like I am now. And I guess that's a surprise. I met my best friend and my girlfriend here.”

“My career is definitely set up for the future. I have options now seeing as I'm qualified as a qualified painter. My goal is to become a fully employed painter. I think my future is bright and painting is definitely the future for me.”
“If you want to study at the Dargaville campus, I’d say go for it. It’s a lot easier than you think to learn and pick up skills. Especially with our two current tutors, they make it easy to learn no matter who you are.”
