Free arts workshops at NorthTec

NorthTec’s Applied Arts department is running free public workshops next week, offering an introduction to key creative skills.

The workshops at the Toi Te Pito arts precinct on the Raumanga campus will take place from Monday, 15 February through to Thursday, 18 February.

Each will run for two to three hours and will be fully hands-on, offering people the chance to sample different strands of the arts. They will cover photography, printmaking, sculpture, graphic design and creative coding.

The workshops are:

Monday, 15 February
  • 1pm to 3/4pm: Learn how to use your digital camera (with Lisa Clunie)
  • 5.30pm to 7.30/8.30pm: Learn how to use your digital camera (with Lisa Clunie)
  • 5.30pm to 7.30/8.30pm: Non-toxic printmaking (with Faith McManus)
Tuesday, 16 February
  • 1pm to 3/4pm: Studio lighting and photography (with Ellie Smith)
  • 1pm to 3/4pm: Sculpture (with Murray Gibbs)
  • 1pm to 3/4pm: Non-toxic printmaking (with Faith McManus)
  •  5.30pm to 7.30/8.30pm: Studio lighting and photography (with Ellie Smith)
  •  5.30pm to 7.30/8.30pm: Sculpture (with Murray Gibbs)
  •  5.30pm to 7.30/8.30pm: Illustrator (with Jason Povey)
Wednesday, 17 February
  • 1pm to 3/4pm: Photoshop (with Jason Povey)         
  • 1pm to 3/4pm: Creative coding (with Kim Newall)
  •  5.30pm to 7.30/8.30pm: Photoshop (with Jason Povey)
Thursday, 18 February
  •  1pm to 3/4pm: Illustrator (with Jason Povey)
  •   5.30pm to 7.30/8.30pm: Creative coding (with Kim Newall)
Anyone wanting to book a place should email fmcmanus@northtec.ac.nz, specifying which workshop/s they would like to attend. Information about the workshops and what to bring will be emailed to attendees.
