NorthTec graduands prepare for big day

Nearly 250 NorthTec graduates will fill Whangarei’s CBD when they march through the town to celebrate their graduation on Friday, 9 March.

All those graduating have successfully completed diplomas, degrees and graduate diplomas.

There will be two ceremonies at Forum North, at 10am and 2pm. At the morning ceremony, students from the following subjects will graduate: Business and Management; Information Systems and Software Development; Applied Social Work; Cookery; Architectural Technology; Civil Engineering.

The afternoon ceremony, starting at 2pm, will be for students of: Applied Arts; Applied Writing; Sport and Recreation; Conservation and Environmental Management; Science; Māori Arts; Nursing.

In between the two ceremonies, graduands will take part in their annual march through town. The march will leave the Rose Gardens in Water Street at 1pm and follow its traditional route along Vine Street, Quality Street, Cameron Street and Rust Avenue, finishing at Forum North.

The student valedictorian is Heleina Garisau, a Bachelor of Māori Arts (Maunga Kura Toi).
