Big congratulations to NorthTec student Matt Hatchard, who has claimed the title of New Zealand’s best building apprentice in a national competition.

He was the top competitor at the final of the New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB) Apprentice Challenge, held in Rotorua.

Matt, who is studying for the New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) as an ITAB (Industry Training Association Building) apprentice, followed up his win in the Northland regional competition by taking home the national title.

He won a prize pack valued at $20,000, after being tested on examples of his work and dedication to his apprenticeship, and giving a presentation to more than 700 NZCB member builders.

Well done Matt, great work!
