Workshops for would-be accountants

A series of free careers workshops for business students will be held at NorthTec over the next two months.

The workshops are organised by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) as part of the organisation’s ‘Careers Series’. Although they are primarily aimed at business students, the workshops are open to the community and all are welcome to attend.

The four-part series of workshops is designed to help tertiary students gain an insight into the accounting industry, learn what it’s like to work in the industry, and assist them to get work-ready before they graduate.

Each session runs for two hours, with the first half consisting of the broadcast of a video put together specifically for the workshops. These will feature speakers including subject matter experts and leaders in business and finance. The videos will be broadcast via YouTube and streamed into the venue.

The second half of each session will be an interactive, practical workshop which will provide students with the opportunity to put into practice the new skills learned via the video presentation, facilitated by an on-site careers team from CA ANZ.

The workshop dates are:

  • Session 1: Weds 23 August, 5.30 to 7.30pm – Venue NorthTec D340

  • Session 2: Thurs 7 September, 5.30 to 7.30pm – Venue NorthTec D340

  • Session 3: Tues 19 September, 5.30 to 7.30pm – Venue NorthTec D3350

  • Session 4: Tues 3 October, 5.30 to 7.30pm – Venue NorthTec D340

Food will be provided at each event. Anyone wanting to attend can register their interest by finding the event on the NorthTec Facebook page.
