Students make employment their business

A group of NorthTec business and accounting students made the most of an employment evening featuring major national and global companies.

The group of seven students, with tutor Anne Patrick, travelled to Auckland for the event, which offered opportunities for networking as well as a top keynote speaker.

The Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) employment evening, held at the Aotea Centre, also gave the students the chance to take part in mock interviews with Human Resources specialists and learn from experienced business professionals.

The keynote speaker was Antonio Caliari-Pearce, a chartered accountant who is now Business Controller at web-based travel company, booking.com.

Exhibitors at the event included accountancy and business development companies Deloitte, BDO, KPMG and PWC. Other employers included Audit New Zealand and Auckland City Council, Westpac, turners and Growers and Vodafone.

Students took the opportunity to find out about graduate and internship roles with the various employers, and how to apply for them.
