About

CLM based at the Whangarei Aquatic Centre is seeking a motivated, energetic, community focused leader to manaaki the delivery of and be a part of the Aroora kaimāhī team. 

The Role

The position largely revolves around wānanga in the outdoors which often include paddling and hiking as well as the supervision and delivery of the Aroora kaupapa to groups of up to twenty people.

This role is fixed term from the 10th January till 15th December 2022, however there is scope to develop this into a permanent position.

Requirements/Skills

Aroora kaimāhī need to; have values that align with the Aroora philosophy, have a high level of fitness, need to exemplify the leadership skills taught, and have a passion for working with youth and local community. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good knowledge base in Te Reo Māori and familiarity in Te Ao Māori.

  • A high level of fitness (a prerequisite) and be comfortable in and around the water.

  • A familiarity with any of the following would be beneficial; outdoor recreation, waka ama, swimming, surfing, taonga pūoro, rongoā, te taiao.

  • Administration and or social media marketing experience.

  • Experience or qualifications in outdoor recreation.

  • Good public speaking ability.

  • A guitar.
