Today the Government announced that the area of the Far North which is currently in Alert Level 3 will move to Alert Level 2 from 11.59pm on Thursday. This means that we will continue with all current modes of teaching for the rest of this week, and will from Monday next week be able to open all our Northland campuses once again. Our students who need to travel from the Far North (Alert Level 3 area) will be able to do so from Friday onwards. If you are unsure what this means for you, please contact your tutor.
We hope that the easing of restrictions in Auckland, with a move to Alert Level 3 – Step 2, will make life a little easier for all our Auckland-based NorthTec whānau.
With regard to NorthTec’s position about mandatory vaccinations for all staff and potentially, students as well, we are bound by decisions made at a national level by Te Pūkenga and the Ministry of Education. We are waiting to be informed of this, however we acknowledge that this is frustrating and causing anxiety for some. We will communicate this information to you as soon as we can.
We are committed to our responsibilities under the Codes of Pastoral Care for both domestic and international students in making our campuses as safe as possible for everyone, and this will be uppermost in our thoughts with regard to any arrangements moving forward.
