Covid Update - 14 Sep

Kia ora
Following yesterday’s news that Auckland will stay at Alert Level 4 for at least another week, and the rest of New Zealand will remain in Delta Level 2, it’s good to see students returning to our campuses. It’s also great to see the level of engagement from those of you who are still studying remotely.
We continue to think of our students and staff in Auckland, who are now going into their fifth week in lockdown. We hope that this will change soon as the number of cases falls, as indicated by the Prime Minister.
Thank you to all students who are wearing masks on campus - please keep it up. You are welcome to wear your own face covering or mask and there are supplies of masks at every campus.
Here are some tips on wearing a mask or face covering:

  • If possible, try different types, styles, and sizes to find the most comfortable option for you.
  • It can help to have more than one face covering so that you can change yours if it becomes damp or uncomfortable.
  • Fit your face covering so that it’s snug but not tight. Adjust your face covering if needed but remember to wash or sanitise your hands before and after touching your face covering, every time.
  • Make sure the mask covers your mouth and your nose. If it’s only covering your mouth, it won’t be as effective.
  • If you are able to, it can help to have more than one face covering so that you can change yours if it becomes damp or uncomfortable.
  • Take regular breaks during classes and/or work that requires a lot of talking.
  • If using a cloth mask, it’s best to have a few for each family member. After each use put them through a hot wash (60°C) and make sure they are dry before wearing again.
We will review this and other protocols as needed, and will continue to keep you informed of any developments which may impact on your studies.
