Covid Update - 12 October

12 October 2021

Kia ora

Following yesterday’s Government announcement that Northland Te Tai Tokerau will remain at Alert Level 3 until at least Friday, we can confirm that our campuses will remain closed until further notice, with all work and teaching delivery continuing from home at this stage.

The news that two Covid-positive cases have spent time travelling around Northland has created uncertainty, frustration and for some in our region, fear. The difficulty in naming locations of interest visited by these two cases has exacerbated these feelings.

The details of some locations of interest in Northland can be found on the Northland DHB website. Anyone who was at these places around the times specified, as well as anyone with flu-like or Covid-19 symptoms, has been asked to get a Covid test.
Details of Covid testing stations can also be found on the DHB site, along with details of Covid vaccination clinics.

Understandably, this is a difficult time for all of us and the situation is causing heightened anxiety for some ākonga. We met as NorthTec’s Emergency Management Group following yesterday’s alert level announcement and we are continuing to monitor the situation. We will meet again following tomorrow’s expected review of alert levels and we will update you as necessary.

Please remember that our support services and our library are operating remotely and can assist you in various ways. For details of all support services, click here.

Our student health centre, Te Whare Hauora, is also available via phone or text on 027 246 0269 or by emailing health@northtec.ac.nz.

In the meantime we wish everybody well – kia kaha again.
