An invitation for Year 12 & Year 13 high school students (16 years and over) to come an experience the primary industries at NorthTec. Choose TWO half-day workshops from a variety of options, or the full-day Forestry option.
All courses require covered in footwear, appropriate clothing (long sleeves and pants) and long hair tied back for workshops.

Learn the core farming skills in Agriculture! From fencing, milking to irrigation systems. You will learn about the health and safety fundamentals within the agriculture industry.
Interested in liquid gold!! Learn about the life cycle and the importance of the beehive, colony and her majesty the Queen Bee! You will learn the benefits of bee keeping, the equipment involved and honey/ honey based products for innovative market demand.
Do you like hunting and exploring the outdoors? Environmental Management have set up a ‘Conservation Amazing Race’ to discover nature’s wonders using the GPS tracking devices. Find out more about Environmental Management and beauties of Te Tai Tokerau in this workshop.
Become a Zero waste Hero! Learn about the sustainable practices of composting and developing a worm farm to add value to everyday life. #SaveThePlanet!
Let’s go bush! This workshop is a full day visit to our local forestry site where students learn about hazard management and quality control in the industry. All students will be supplied Personal Protective Equipment gear and will experience chainsaw use and observing industry machines loading trucks, tree falling, breaking out, experience team culture and the outdoors.
