Youth Pathways

NorthTec supports students at secondary school by providing additional experiences and opportunities not available at school that will assist students in their transition to tertiary study and employment.

Our pathway offerings are aligned with the Vocational Pathways which will allow students to gain credits that contribute to their National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) under the vocational pathways.

NorthTec is happy to work with schools to provide solutions that meet the needs of students at your school. We welcome your comments, requests for information and suggestions about how we can help, and work more closely together.

Programmes for Youth

  • Academy Programmes provide opportunities for students to engage with learning in both the secondary and tertiary learning environments throughout a year-long programme. This builds on existing knowledge, exposes students to the tertiary learning environment, and provides credits towards NCEA qualifications as well as a nationally transferable qualification.

  • Experience NorthTec - Choose from the following activities to build your knowledge of NorthTec.

  • STAR is a nationwide programme funded by the government. It's specific aim is to prepare senior high school students for either the workforce or further training in a chosen field, or tertiary study in its many different forms, including Modern Apprenticeships.

  • Tasters are non-unit standard activities designed to ‘taste’ various NorthTec programmes on offer.
