NorthTec has made an agreement with Microsoft to provide Office 365 ProPlus to every one of our students for free. This automatically updatable, subscription-based software ensures our students always have the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and more for as long as they’re a student here and the program continues. You'll also get 1TB of online storage through OneDrive.
Getting Office 365
This offer is available to all students at Northtec. To get your complimentary Office, visit portal.office.com and login with your NorthTec username and network password.
You will need to login and be connected to the internet at least once a month to keep your subscriptions active.
DO NOT change your password inside the Office 365 account as this will not synchronise with your NorthTec network login and will cause access problems.
If you need to change your password this is best done by changing your NorthTec network login password via the NorthTec student portal at https://selfservice.northland.ac.nz:9251/showLogin.cc while logged into a campus student PC or the wireless networks available at campus.
Is Microsoft Office already installed on your computer? If so, you might not need Office 365 Pro Plus. For best results, uninstall older versions of Office before you install Office 365 Pro Plus.

Do I get anything else besides Office 365 ProPlus when I use the self-service process?
In addition to having access to the Office ProPlus client which has application like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, which work across your PCs and Macs, you can active the clients on your iPad, iPhone, and Android Phone, giving you access to edit and review your homework on the go. You also get 1 TB of storage through OneDrive for Business to ensure you access to all of your documents whenever you need them. If you using a computer that doesn’t have Office installed, don’t worry you can edit or review those assignments in Office Online in any browser.
What devices can I use Office 365 ProPlus on?
Office supports PCs and Windows tablets running Windows 7 or higher, and Macs with Mac OS X 10.6 or higher. Office for iPad can be installed on iPads running version 7.0 or higher. For information about mobile devices, visit www.office.com/mobile
How long can I use Office 365?
Your Office 365 account will be active as long as you have active student or have a current enrolments with NorthTec.
Your Office 365 account will become inactive 90 days after the class end date if there are no other active or current enrolments. Your NorthTec network account will then be disabled and your Office 365 account will be deactivated and all your data will be removed.
What should I do if I have finished studying and my Office 365 account is due to expire?
What does Office 365 ProPlus include?
Office 365 ProPlus comes with a full version of Office and familiar Office applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and more. Office 365 ProPlus is a user-based service and allows each student to install on up to five PCs or Macs, and five tablets (iPad) and access Office mobile applications on iPhone and Android phones. Can students install Office for iPad through this Office 365 ProPlus benefit?
Yes, this would count towards the limit of installing it on 5 tablets. Just install the applications and sign in with your school ID.
