Partnerships with Māori Trusts, Rūnanga, and Iwi
NorthTec has a range of contracts with Māori Trusts, Rūnanga and iwi. These contracts relate to the delivery of certain programmes where NorthTec does the teaching and the organisations provide some of the support services.
Currently NorthTec has contracts with Māori Trusts and Rūnanga that include:
- Ngāti Hine Health Trust (health)
- Te Rūnanga O Te Rarawa (horticulture, and the Diploma in Social Services)
- He Iwi Kotahi Tātou Trust (horticulture)
- Ngunguru Development Trust (horticulture)
- Te Rūnanga O Te Rarawa
- Te Rūnanga O Ngāti Whātua
- Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi
Te Puna O Te Mātauranga (Māori Studies)
Te Puna O Te Mātauranga has networks with the local Whangārei hapu and their marae, as well as with Ngāti Hine, Ngāti Whātua, and Ngāpuhi Rununga.
NorthTec's Te Puna programme has a strong Ngāpuhi focus. We therefore have partnerships with Ngāpuhi experts in the language and culture, whose knowledge and support we have access to. We are therefore able to affiliate our programme even more closely with Ngāpuhi, and we are proud to have similar connections and networks with other tribal groups in the region.
