If you have a strong desire to help others make positive changes in others' lives a great place to begin your journey is a career in social services. But, as many of our students discover, the first life you change may be your own.
This isn’t a course for people who cling tightly to fixed ideas and opinions. If you enjoy being challenged and stretching your perspective you will find it a deeply rewarding experience.
Many people come to our courses with a lot of living under their belt, but with little confidence in their ability to succeed in an academic environment. Let us reassure you that if you feel a little fearful on your first day here, you will not be alone!
Come with an open mind and a strong desire to begin your journey, and you will find a supportive environment here for you. Classes are small and people come to them from all walks of life. The tutors know each student as an individual and are committed to seeing students graduate with the skills they need to take up a wide variety of roles in the community – particularly right here in Northland. We have close ties with a range of community-based organisations, which means that our perspective is always real and current.
We don’t claim to have all the answers, but if you can help just one person to transform their life, you will know a sense of fulfillment that many people spend their whole lives seeking.
