Overview

This programme focuses on the practical management of occupational health and safety in the workplace and allows candidates to select skills and  knowledge relevant to their sector of industry. The content assumes the candidate is a holder of the National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety - Workplace Safety (Level 3) or has equivalent experience, and as such has a good grounding in safety specific practices within industry.


It is targeted at those currently working in industry that hold positions as first line managers, safety supervisors/representatives, co-ordinators or team leaders and are actively involved in the practical management of OSH and wish to gain further skills and knowledge in this area. This qualification will be awarded to people who have gained a minimum total of 65 credits at level 4 or above, and who have met the requirements of the compulsory and elective sections.

  • Evaluating OSH standards and practice
  • Incident investigation in the workplace
  • Implementing a health and safety plan for a workplace
  • Applying knowledge of both general and industry specific methods for  managing hazards in industry environments.

Admission Information

Applicants must be 16 years of age or older on the 1st of January in the year that the student enrols, unless approved otherwise by the Programme Leader.


Students must be able to demonstrate evidence of suitability based on interview and/or portfolio.

 

Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
