Overview Students will gain practical skills in composite boat building at the same gaining NZ Marine unit standards towards the National Certificate in Boatbuilding.
Content Projects undertaken will include boatbuilding projects such as:
- 14.5 metre Waka and 6.5 metre Pelin trailer boat [student project]
- 2.7 metre Composite Dinghy
- Varnished ½ model to scale
- Waka ama paddle
- Scale drawing
Admission Information Applicants require a minimum of 3 years’ secondary education, with evidence of competence in English, Maths and Science.
Mature students will be assessed on an individual basis.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.

Credits towards the National Certificate in Boatbuilding
