Overview To provide both the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed for entry into the boatbuilding trades.
Content Graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of boatbuilding techniques,
general design and drawing as it relates to boatbuilding
- Demonstrate the skills, knowledge and attitude required to work
safely in a composite- and wooden-boatbuilding workshop
- Perform calculations and produce drawings associated with boat
construction
- Demonstrate the use of common equipment associated with
composite construction including vacuum pumps
- Demonstrate the maintenance and use of woodworking equipment
including hand tools, power tools, and machines including band saws, buzzers and thicknessers
- Demonstrate the ability to be a safe, useful and productive member
of a work team.

Further Study
Admission Information Applicants require a minimum of 3 years’ secondary education, with evidence of competence in English, Maths and Science.
Mature students will be assessed on an individual basis. Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
