Foundation Studies

It is never too late to learn. It is never too late to jump the hurdles that may have held you back. It is never too late to give yourself a second chance. If you are ready to take the next step on your journey, we are here to give you all the support you need to succeed.

If you’re returning to formal education, the foundation studies programme is your stepping stone. Foundation studies will help you gain confidence in your academic ability and provides a great pathway to further qualifications at NorthTec. The courses are tailored to meet each student’s needs and include literacy, numeracy and communication skills.

The Certificate in Foundation Studies is not a one-size-fits-all course. It’s about helping individuals find their feet and walk their own journey. It doesn’t matter when you left school. It could be last week, or decades ago. If you haven’t been in a classroom for a long time, don’t be put off – life experiences count too!

The Certificate in Academic Studies is the pathway into our degree programmes including Business Management, Arts, Social Services and Nursing.

The tutors are right behind you every step of the way and with their support these courses will help you reach your goals. Students who began their journey here needing help with literacy and numeracy skills have progressed all the way to degrees and careers they never dreamed possible – in nursing, business, social services, sport and recreation and trades… you can do it too.
