Overview
To provide students with base level skills in massage and provide a base for further study in the Northland Polytechnic Diploma in Massage.

This course is a prerequisite for the Diploma in Massage.

Content
A graduate of this programme will be able to:

• Identify the benefits and contra indications of relaxation massage
• Demonstrate a range of relaxation massage skills that are supported
  by a foundation in the theory of massage.
• Demonstrate a knowledge of anatomy and physiology
• Demonstrate a knowledge of interpersonal skills that allow the
  development of client/practitioner relationships
• Massage with awareness and sensitivity to meet the individual needs
  of their clients
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding and application of the ethics
  of relaxation massage practice

   - Relaxation Massage
   - Study Skills

Admission Information
Applicants must be minimum of 17 years of age or older on the 1st of January in the year that the student enrols, unless approved otherwise by the Programme Leader. Applicants under 20 should have NCEA Level 2.

Applicants over 20 years of age must provide evidence of suitability based on interview and/or portfolio. All applicants must provide a current police check. The minimum IELTS requirement for entry into this programme is a score of 5.5.

Qualification gained:

Northland Polytechnic Certificate in Relaxation Massage.
