Overview To enable New Zealand Registered Nurses who do not have a current annual practising certificate to return to practice. To enable overseas trained Registered Nurses to meet the nursing competencies required by the Nursing Council of New Zealand for entry onto the Register of Nurses.
Content The graduates of this programme will be able to:
- Perform those skills as outlined in the graduate profile for the New
Zealand Registered Nurse
- Demonstrate competency in the Nursing Council of New Zealand
required domains of Professional Responsibility; Management of Nursing Care; Interpersonal Relationships, Inter-professional Health Care and Quality Improvement

Admission Information Applicants must hold a qualification recognised by the Nursing Council of New Zealand as acceptable for entry to this programme. An example of this is a Registered Nurse (previously RGON or RCpN) qualification.
This programme is not currently accepting international applicants. International applicants must provide a decision letter from the Nursing Council of New Zealand about requirements for entry to a Registered Nurse Competence program. This includes English language requirements.
