Overview
To provide students with a solid foundation of essential generic skills
and knowledge required to start a career in Forest Harvesting and work
towards Level 4 Forestry qualifications.

Graduates of this programme will be work ready forestry workers with
knowledge and skills in:

  • First aid
  • Breaking out
  • Log loading
  • Log extraction
  • Incident response
  • Tree felling
  • Log making
  • Environmental issues.
  • Cable harvesting
  • Chainsaw operation
  • Chainsaw maintenance
  • Processing
  • Possess the personal equipment and chainsaw required to work
    in a harvesting crew

Admission Information
It would be an advantage for applicants to hold a Level 2 qualification
in forestry or to be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies.

Mature students who cannot provide evidence of previous academic
achievement may be asked to complete a literacy/numeracy
assessment to determine the level of support they will require. All
students must pass a test for illegal drugs prior to commencement of
on-job training and be physically able to complete the requirements of
the programme.


Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a
minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
