Overview To provide students with a solid foundation of essential generic skills and knowledge required to start a career in Forest Harvesting and work towards Level 4 Forestry qualifications.
Content Graduates of this programme will be work ready forestry workers with knowledge and skills in:
- First aid
- Breaking out
- Log loading
- Log extraction
- Incident response
- Tree felling
- Log making
- Environmental issues.
- Cable harvesting
- Chainsaw operation
- Chainsaw maintenance

- Possess the personal equipment and chainsaw required to work
in a harvesting crew

Admission Information It would be an advantage for applicants to hold a Level 2 qualification in forestry or to be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies.
Mature students who cannot provide evidence of previous academic achievement may be asked to complete a literacy/numeracy assessment to determine the level of support they will require. All students must pass a test for illegal drugs prior to commencement of on-job training and be physically able to complete the requirements of the programme.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
