Overview To provide Northland students with access to a degree qualification in conservation management.
Content Graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of, and some solutions to,
regional, national and global challenges to biodiversity management.
- Engage appropriate resources for environmental investigation and
critique of how social, cultural and policy frameworks influence management decisions.
- Apply practical skills to monitor ecosystems and analyse,
comprehend and evaluate results.
Papers offered include - Behavioural Ecology - Environmental Risk Management - GIS - Issues in Bioresource Ecology - Negotiated Study - Restoration Ecology - Wildlife Management and Conservation Ecology.
Admission Information Students who have successfully completed the Diploma in Conservation and Environmental Management at NorthTec with at least a B+ average will be allowed direct entry into this programme. Students will be enrolled on their Programme with Unitec and will be required to complete 120 credits, i.e. the equivalent of one year’s full time study.
