Overview
Students will develop skills suitable for the marine eco-tourim industry through a range of practice and theory based learning. To equip students for careers in the outdoor recreation and maritime tourism area. A good skill base in sailing, kayak guiding, power boating, risk management, ecology/conservation and scuba diving.

Graduates will have:

A strong overall knowledge of Northland’s marine environment, its ecology, history, conservation and cultural significance

A solid background in the theory and practice of safety and survival in a coastal marine environment

Personal, leadership and organisational skills in a range of maritime activities

An understanding of the social, cultural, political and economic impacts of coastal marine tourism in New Zealand

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

An understanding of small business practices relevant to the marine tourism industry

Admission information
Entry is open but mobility and a moderate level of fitness and water confidence is necessary. You will be required to attend an interview prior to acceptance on the programme.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5, or equivalent.
