Sheila Failano - Certificate in Beauty Therapy

“I love helping people to look and feel good. It makes me feel good.”

When Sheila wanted to find a career direction, she thought about what she most enjoyed doing. “I love girlie stuff and even when I was small, I mucked around with make-up. When I checked out beauty therapy training options - including in Auckland – I realised I wasn’t ready to leave home yet. This course offered everything I wanted.”

Working with paying public clients is part of the course training. “I love doing make-up that is specifically what a client likes - even small things. I like helping people to feel comfortable.” 

Sheila has just graduated from the one year course and was surprised at the depth of study in anatomy and physiology. “We learnt in detail about the human body so we can explain to clients how what we are doing will affect them. I was also surprised at how much I love learning. The class became like a little family and it was international with all of us sharing stories.”

“I can now start a career doing something I love everyday and I feel confident enough now to move away to get work. Because I love painting as well as make-up, my dream job would be to work as a make-up artist on a movie set.”
