Matthieu Stanley - National Certificate in Horticulture Level 4
“I’m in love with this course! It far exceeds my expectations.”
Matthieu has a passion for horticulture and especially for growing food. He and his family have come to New Zealand from Canada where he worked with a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) business. “When we first moved to New Zealand and settled in Cambridge, I worked part-time on a bio-dynamic farm then we decided to move north. We scouted out this course and I enrolled before we moved up, but I didn’t know what to expect.”
“The content is so much more comprehensive and in depth than I imagined and covers modern issues and techniques. I’ve learnt more in a year than you can in years of work experience.”
Matthieu is drawn particularly to the permaculture content for both the design and management techniques. Already he has applied what he has learnt. When the family recently bought a property, the choice was impacted by knowledge from the course.
The family is now starting a business based on that property and Matthieu is considering his options including completing a full Diploma in Horticulture. “The business will be based on fruit and vegetable production, and perhaps seed production. My role will be to take charge of the design, layout, and day-to-day management of the operation.”
