Scholarship Applications Open Now
The time to apply for 2013 scholarships for tertiary study is now. There are a number of scholarships available to school leavers, including course specific scholarships provided by NorthTec (Tai Tokerau Wānanga).
NorthTec School Leaver Scholarships are available for three degree level programmes offered by the polytechnic; the Bachelor of Applied Management, Bachelor of Applied Arts and Bachelor of Applied Social Services. There are also NorthTec scholarships available in the Sport and Recreation and Applied Environmental Sciences areas.
The Bachelor based scholarships mean that a student can study in their first year fees free, which can save students anywhere between $4000 - $6000 depending on the course of study chosen. Those applying for scholarships within Sport and Recreation or Environmental Management can have up to $1000 applied in fee reductions.
Scholarship recipients must be a Year 13 secondary school student enrolling directly from secondary school and meet the entry requirements for the chosen programme of study. NorthTec chooses applicants who can demonstrate sound academic ability, are passionate about further study, are willing to communicate their future aspirations with their peers, and want to achieve their career goals through further education and training.
Northland based Year 13 students have until 31 October to apply for the NorthTec School Leavers Scholarships. Students are required to apply online and their application needs to include a short essay outlining why they feel they are the deserving recipient of a scholarship, what they hope to achieve from their study programme, and what their career goals are for the future. Scholarship applicants will be notified on the status of their application.
There are other scholarships available to study at NorthTec, including the Ray White Allens Education Foundation Scholarship of up to $2000 each, of which there will be scholarships specifically earmarked for NorthTec students.
