THE RĀWENE LEARNING CENTRE IS LOCATED IN A SMALL, HISTORIC TOWN ON THE BEAUTIFUL HOKIANGA HARBOUR.
Enrich your life by learning in Rawene
Our Rāwene Campus in the Hokianga offers rigorous professional content delivered in a beautiful natural environment. Rāwene is a tiny town with a huge history and a strong heart. It is nestled on the edge of the Hokianga Harbour.
The powerful landscape provides a place to engage more deeply – with your own learning journey, with the supportive local community, and with the landscape itself.
Colourful campus
The NorthTec campus sits just above the town and looks through sub-tropical gardens to the harbour. Bananas, grapes, and sunflowers line the paths between buildings and a wood fired pizza oven encourages shared food and conversation.
Campus magnetism
Rāwene NorthTec is a magnet for local students wanting to study close to home, and for those from outside the region who are drawn to the welcoming community, the high calibre of the tutors, and the rich course content.
Rāwene is a favourite regional campus that prides itself on the consistent respect given to all who visit, study, or work here. Acknowledging what people already know and bring to the campus is valued as a foundation to their new learning.
Courses reflect community
Our Rāwene campus courses enable and enrich the community and beyond. They range from applied arts, to business administration, to construction, to horticulture.
Top tutors
High calibre tutors breathe life into the learning here.
Creativity is at the heart of the campus and this reflects a local community where art is visible and valued. The art tutors are working artists with well-established national and/or international reputations. They bring with them active infrastructure networks available to the personal advantage of the students – many of whom have sold work or been profiled in national art magazines.
Tutors in other courses are sharp operators with a business background, or experienced trades people with hands-on skills.
Individual support is also available from our dedicated Student Advisor and our Campus Administrator.
Natural integration
Because the Rāwene campus is small, there is plenty of natural cross-over of course content. An art student may want a frame built or a horticultural student may want visual input on plant placement and the proximity of the buildings encourages this integration.
Hands-on facilities
All courses have practical professional on-site facilities. These include a gallery with moveable walls, creative studio space, a ceramic kiln, three computer labs that are constantly updated, a construction workshop, and gardens with plant propagation facilities.
Campus WhĀnau
The learning environment at Rāwene NorthTec is fertile and diverse and forged from community initiative. The students and tutors and community alike enjoy a sense of pride and ownership in the campus facility and its developing whānau. They extend a warm welcome to incoming students.
