Application Process

Enrolling at NorthTec is easy - just follow these steps

 

  1. Choose a programme from our prospectus or email us with your programme enquiry

    If you want to find out more about a programme, download our prospectus, go to the Programmes area of our website, or contact your local NorthTec approved agent. You can also email us at international@northtec.ac.nz
     

  2. Send your application

    Before you apply, check the entry requirements for your country and download the information for international applications. Read the International Student Cancellation and Refund Policy.

    Don’t forget to include your personal details, the programme you wish to study, photographs and copies of your academic records, including your English language level.

    We will let you know the outcome of your application. If your application is accepted, you will receive: 

    • a letter of acceptance 

    • an offer of place 

    • a schedule of payment (which will include tuition fees and other services such as medical and travel insurance if required)

    If your English is not of a sufficient standard, you may be offered a conditional place, dependent on reaching the required standard.
     

  3. Pay your fees

    When you receive your Offer of Place letter you will be advised of the fees for the programme. These may include other fees such as your homestay booking fee and airport pick-up fee.You will also be sent the NorthTec bank account number and you will need to transfer your fees to this account, with your student ID as reference.

    When your fees are received, you or your agent will receive a faxed copy of the receipt for the fees. You can use the receipt and Offer of Place letter to apply for your student visa. Fees should be paid as soon as possible to secure your place. Please note that an offer is not confirmed until full payment is received.
     

  4. Apply for your student visa

    You will need to apply for a student visa before you can come to New Zealand. Full details of visa requirements and advice on employment in New Zealand while studying are available through your agent, or through Immigration New Zealand.

    Once your student visa is approved, and you have told us when you are arriving, we will arrange your homestay accommodation. You or your agent will receive details of your homestay family, and they will collect you from the airport on arrival. Remember that you will need to arrive in time for your orientation day, which will give you important information about your studies, NorthTec and your new home city.
     

  1. Prepare to travel to new zealand

    Make your travel arrangements to Whangarei. Advise the International Office of your flight details, arrival date and time.

  2. Welcome to northtec

    When you arrive at NorthTec you will take part in an International Orientation Day, held during the week before the official start of your programme (further information will be sent to you about this Orientation).

    You will be greeted by our International Coordinator and given a tour of the facilities and the city. This will help you get comfortable and settle in for a great stay in Northland and a successful study experience at NorthTec.
