EBSCO offers a collection of databases designed for academic institutions. They offer New Zealand and international coverage of multidisciplinary academic journals. Content supports research by providing access to peer-reviewed journals, full-text periodicals, reports, books, and more.

Gale is a subscription database so login for access.
It is a collection of multi-media resources: Gale Interactive are virtual reality databases, there are videos, reviews, and articles.
These academic databases provide access to scholarly journals and articles, interactive VR, multimedia formats and primary sources. 

The ProQuest subscription includes Ebook Central and ProQuest Central journal databases.
Search all of the databases in one search.
Create an account and sign-in to use your personal Bookshelf and save articles.

Live out of Whangārei District? Request Postal Services

  • Reserved books will be sent to your home address.
  • Login to My Library Account and look screen left to find MY LIBRARY
  • Check your address under MY LIBRARY > Details.
  • A Freepost bag will be included with your books. To return them for free, put them in the bag and take it to any Postal Delivery Centre or rural delivery mail box.

Appointment Services

  • Kanohi ki te Kanohi face-2-face for individuals or small groups.
  • Choose to visit Te Whare Pukapuka or join us online over Zoom.
  • Time limit: Up to one hour for an appointment, one appointment per day per learner/group.
  • Bring your device or borrow a laptop from the library desk before appointment.
  • Appointments offer: Personalised inductions, referencing help or resource finding questions.
  • Walk-in appointments are also available or see our Roaming Librarians with a quick inquiry.

Book a Space

E110 (Study Room) Te Whare Pukapuka-Library, E Block, has seating for a large group, whiteboard, projector and PC. 

  • Arrive on time. E110 will be available to others if it is unused 10 minutes into your booking time.
  • Next to E110 is a computer room with 20 desktop PCs. No bookings required.

Library Regulations

1. TITLE 1.1 The Te Pūkenga, New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST) - trading as NorthTec Library Regulations outline the membership and use of the library resources.

2. MEMBERSHIP 2.1 Students who are enrolled in a qualification of 40 or more credits at Te Pūkenga, New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST) - trading as NorthTec are eligible to use the library and borrow resources.
2.2 Students who are enrolled in an award of fewer than 40 credits at Te Pūkenga, New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST) - trading as NorthTec are eligible to use the library but are not eligible to borrow resources.

3. USE OR LIBRARY RESOURCES 3.1 Library resources are the responsibility of the borrower until they are returned to the library.
3.2 If library resources are not returned by due date, charges may apply, and library privileges may be withdrawn.
3.3 In the event of loss or serious damage to library resources, the borrower may be liable to pay the full cost of replacement.
