The Student Success team is here to help you on your journey, from enrolment to graduation. We have the knowledge and expertise to guide you through issues that may impact on your study and to help you make the most of your time at NorthTec.

Student Advisory Services
Our student advisory service offers help with anything from housing or hardship problems to money issues and student complaints. Specific scholarships are awarded to students every year for financial support and the Student Advisory assists students to identify appropriate scholarships and to complete applications. Read more>
Learning Development
Our Student Advisors help students to develop skills to become more effective learners. We can help identify the gaps in your learning and suggest strategies to enhance studying. These could be in areas such as time management, essay writing, referencing or memorising information for exams. Read more>
Kai Takawaenga
The Kai Takawaenga service supports students of Māori or Pacific Island descent. The Kai Takawaenga service empowers Māori or Pacific Island students to achieve success by providing learning, financial, cultural and emotional support. The role aims to foster student support networks internally and externally. Read more>
Disability Services
NorthTec Student Advisors provide information and support for all current students with permanent or temporary support needs. Disability Support services include note-takers, support people, readers and writers, equipment such as ergonomic furniture, recording devices and facilitation with tutors. NorthTec is committed to supporting people with disabilities. Read more>
Mentors
Our Mentor / Kai Awhina programme provides peer support for new students and helps to build a campus culture. Read more>
Student Health Centre
The Health Centre on the Raumanga Campus offers confidential, free nurse–led health services to students. Referrals can be made to GPs and other health providers as appropriate. The Health Centre is open during term time from 9am - 3pm Monday to Thursday. Read more>
Counselling Service
NorthTec provides students with free access to counselling services provided by registered counsellors in Northland. Details of the service can be obtained from Student Advisors, the Health Centre or online. Read more>
Career Guidance
You can discuss your Career Guidance needs with your Student Advisor who will provide you with advice and support you with additional resources and links to meet your needs. Read more>
