Northtec's purpose is to be a quality provider of relevant, accessible, innovative tertiary education. Our goal is to build on students' secondary education to assist in making a successful transition from secondary school to tertiary study and assist them in finding a career that suits them.

Programmes for Youth

  • STAR is a nationwide programme funded by the government. It's specific aim is to prepare senior high school students for either the workforce or further training in a chosen field, or tertiary study in its many different forms, including Modern Apprenticeships.

  • Tasters are non-unit standard activities designed to ‘taste’ various NorthTec programmes on offer.

  • Experience NorthTec - Choose from the following activities to build your knowledge of NorthTec.

NorthTec Youth Relations Team

Our youth relations team offers a number of services to help with study options and career choices. Contact them at pathways@northtec.ac.nz.

School Visits

We are happy to talk to students about NorthTec courses. We can do this in several ways:

  • Attendance at your school’s Careers Evening

  • Presentations to specific students

  • Arranging for NorthTec tutors to present their area of expertise to a class

Campus Tours

We also offer campus tours. Students from Years 10 to 13 can come to our campus to take part in a number of fun and educational activities which will help them learn about tertiary study at NorthTec.
